How to create quality content in 2024: Part 1

If you own a business, possess average or exceptional skills in any career lane, or are simply passionate about a burdensome cause, then you are a potential content creator.

A content creator is someone who creates information and packages it into a format that is accessible through media for a specific audience.

Content creation is not a simple task to engage in because it takes time, consistency, and creativity. To succeed as a beginner, you need to learn the gimmicks of reaching your target audience with specific and engaging content.

I have a simple formula for you on how to become a productive content creator. All you need is to find the missing variables, plug them into the formula, and get instant results. It works for everybody and in every content creation scenario.

Here you go:

2N  + 2M  =  CQ

2 N for Need and Niche

2M for Method and Media

CQ = Content Quotient

Let me explain each variable briefly.

Need

There must be a need, a problem, a concern you want to address. If there is no need, there is no content. You cannot create content from space. If your purpose for creating content is to get more views or to entertain followers on social media, you will end up being a popularity figure with nothing to show for. You may have many followers, views and subscribers, but lack the moral authority to win their trust or get them to buy your products or services.

We shall explore the concept of need properly in the next series.

Niche

I first heard the name niche when I studied ecosystem at Ordinary Level Biology. We were told that a niche is the specific habitat of an organism and its role in that habitat. In content creation, a niche identifies the specific target you want to hit. The narrower the target, the better the niche. For instance, if you want to create content on a subject area like physical fitness, a narrow niche void of competition could be to focus on physical fitness for pregnant women. Choosing the correct niche is important in content creation because creating content for everybody is creating content for nobody.

Method

Content does not exist in space. There are four majors methods of packaging content :

· Videos

· Images

· Written text

· Sound

Each format can break down into multiple other formats. For example, written texts include:

· Books

·   Ebooks

·  Copywriting

·  Emails

·  Blogs

Images could include:

·   Inforgraphics

·  Graphic designs

·  PowerPoint visuals

Videos

·    Animations

·   Podcast/interviews

·   Documentaries

·   Short video clips

It is important to figure out which content creation format works best for you. If you love written texts, consider creating content as eBooks, print books, blogs, articles or emails.

If writing is not your strength zone, focus on videos like short animations, documentaries, video clips or otherwise.

Media

As a content creator, your job is not limited to creating content. You have an immense responsibility in making sure that content reaches the right people at the right time and meets their needs. Content matters is it meets the need of the audience, and if is easy for them to find it. Nowadays, many people consume content via social media; particularly TikTok, Instagram, Tweeter or Facebook. WhatsApp and YouTube have also gained tremendous popularity. For this reason, you consider creating audiovisual content because that’s where a majority of your target audience reside. Besides this, shareability on social media also requires digital literacy skills on how to reach your target audience.

You can create quality content, but if it does not reach your target audience through the right medium, it will have no impact. Content is good so long as it meets a need. If you produce quality content and share it via the wrong media platform, it is a waste of time and resources.

Content Quotient

Finally, the outcome of 2N + 2M is a new born content that is meaningful, specific to a particular audience, and meets a specific need. If you find a need, carve out a specific niche, choose an appropriate format to package your content and share it through the correct medium, your content will inevitably generate leads for you, open many doors and networking opportunities, and also attract high paying customers to your brand.

Conclusion

If you mean business with creating quality content, I urge you to step back for a second and reconsider the process I am going to be sharing with you in this blog.

Certainly, it won’t be easy all the way through. You would have to go through failure in order to achieve success, but be assured that the formula will work magic for you.

Go get it done.
