Do you want to start creating content?

If you possess average or exceptional skills in any career lane, or you are simply passionate about a burdensome cause, then you are a potential content creator.

A content creator is someone who creates and packages content in a format that is accessible for a specific audience with the purpose of adding value to their lives.

Content creation is an energy-consuming process. Creating the finished product may seem easy, but there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes; some of which involve: strategic planning, marketing, packages and timing. If you think content creation is all about posting entertaining content on social media, then you got it all wrong. It is much more than that. It is real business for serious people.

Content creation is more about adding value to your target audience. You can publish tones of content on social media daily but still not connect meaningfully with your target audience. Producing a quality video, or writing an error-free blog post is meaningless if it doesn’t solve the problem of your readers.

Content builds knowledge, advocates a cause, shares ideas and builds communities. It’s less about going viral with content and getting the excitement of getting views and subscribers. It is more about providing strategic content that meets a need.

Not everyone who creates content is a content creator. There are, of course, naturals. These are people who just get it right after a brief moment of mentoring or guidance.

In addition to being naturally skilled in creating content, chances are slim you are going to be a super influencer. So get this dream expectation out of your mind and focus on being a good creator. If by chance you emerge as a super influencer, then kudos to you. Not every great soccer player ends up in the finest football club. Luck can step in, but the more you put in effort, the luckier you get. You’ve got to be willing to create and share tons of free content.

The entry level for content creation is pretty simple. All you need is creativity and a few resources to kick start your journey to becoming a successful content creator. However, there are a few values to hold on to as you take on this interesting trajectory.

Next week, I will share with you a few values you need to possess and to hold on to as you take on this interesting trajectory.
